For prospective students and post-docs

Here is some information for prospective students and post-docs who would like to work with me. Please take a look at here on why you should (and should not) consider me as your mentor and here on HKU as your school.

HKU CS offers two kinds of research degrees, PhD and MPhil. Take a look at here before approaching me with any particular choice.

Note: due to the overwhelming number of applications (thank you all!), I would highly recommend that you record a short video introducing yourself, put it on an online video sharing site (e.g. youtube or vimeo or youku), and send me the link in your application email. (Password protect the video for privacy if you like.) I can learn a lot about your intelligence and personality by reading your facial expressions, so I will need to see you either in a video or through Skype before I can decide whether to take you. Providing a video makes it more likely that I will go through your application.

To apply for HKU, see here for information. I would also encourage you to apply for the Hong Kong Ph.D. fellowship scheme; see here for information.

Note that you don't have to be in HKU to collaborate with me; I have helped several students getting SIGGRAPH papers without ever being my official interns/students.
